I’ve written about how much I love the Salar leggings from Fabletics for running, but I haven’t yet mentioned the tops for my cold-weather runs. Here are a few winter picks, if you’re wondering what to get.
The Desio Top
The Desio top (shown with a pair of charcoal stripe Salar leggings) is a fantastic base layer. The fabric is soft and stretchy, and the herringbone design is super-cute and adds a little something extra to an otherwise basic top. It can be worn alone on “warmer” days and under a jacket when it’s too chilly. I also love how it’s a little long on me, so I can pull it down over my rear and keep a little warmer. The only improvement I’d make would be to add thumbholes.
The Toronto Jacket
Considering how much I love Fabletics, it only makes sense that I would look to the brand for a new running jacket. And this one has thumbholes! The Toronto jacket is a little heavier than a shirt and has the black mesh ventilation. The purple iris color I got is rich and true, and it’s really a fantastic cold weather running jacket! It zips all the way up the neck and has the aforementioned thumbholes. But there is one improvement I’d love to see: zippers on the pockets. That way, I could store GU or tissues or keys.
The Joni Jacket
This heavier, down-filled jacket isn’t for running, but I love it anyway. I own the black one with the cobalt zippers, and it is my favorite casual winter jacket. I not only wear it to and from the gym but also with jeans around town. It’s lightweight and seems like it would be easy to pack. I found it to be true to size. And I love that it has one of those thin little loops to hang up the jacket on a hook.
Bonus Toppers: Slouchy Beanie and Fleece Headband
Fabletics has my head and ears covered, literally. The Slouchy Beanie is now my go-to winter hat; the lining is soft, and I can pull it over my ears to stay warm. Again, like the Joni jacket, it’s not a running item, but it’s great for walks or just staying warm outside in cold weather. Meanwhile, the Fleece Headband is my ideal running headband, and not just because it keeps my ears warm. There’s a ponytail hole, so I can slip my ponytail through and not worry about the headband taking flight.
