I Went Cuckoo for Kicao: Kicao Bar Review

I’m a pretty big fan of things that are sweet, so I didn’t say no when Ah Cacao sent me some bars to write a Kicao bar review. These bars are made with dark chocolate, the pure kind that has a bite to it with just enough sweetness.

The Kicao energy bars are made with fruit and nuts, not with added sweeteners. You’re not going to get a gooey chocolate bar here. You’re going to get a bar full of three simple ingredients, no gluten, soy, or dairy added. Keep in mind that cacao is an acquired taste; if you’re used to eating milk chocolate, you’re not going to like these.

However, I love dark chocolate, and I loved the Kicao bars. Ah Cacao sent me the coconut, peanut, and almond flavors to try, and I liked the peanut best. They’re not low calorie, so I wouldn’t recommend eating an entire bar. I had a quarter of a bar to try, and honestly, it’s really all you need for a quick sweet treat.

Also, you know all those studies that say chocolate is good for you? That’s amplified when you remove all the sugar and artificial ingredients found in most chocolate bars. The cacao in chocolate contains health benefits like better cardiovascular health, lowered blood pressure and cholesterol, a better mood, and stronger concentration. Cacao is also a great source of antioxidants and minerals like iron and magnesium.

Overall, I recommend these bars, but if you’re watching calories or carbs, don’t eat a full one. Store them in the fridge; they’re so much tastier that way.
