Coffee protein is definitely a “thing.” Among the many things that CrossFit has introduced me to, the idea of a hybrid coffee/protein drink is probably my favorite. Click Coffee Protein fits the bill nicely.
I sampled the Click Coffee Protein in Mocha a while back. (And I’m just now getting around to posting this review.) It’s billed as a meal replacement with a double shot of espresso in every serving. The company suggests drinking it hot, iced, or even blended like your favorite coffeehouse drink. But instead of being full of sugar and empty calories, it’s packed with protein, so it works as a breakfast on the run, mid-day snack, afternoon pick-me-up, or pre- or post-workout shake.
What Click Coffee Protein Tastes Like
The Mocha coffee protein flavor did taste like a mild cafe mocha. It blended nicely in my shaker bottle, and it did keep me from being hungry for about 90 minutes. (Disclaimer: I’m always hungry.) I did like that a serving contains 16 grams of protein, which was perfect for a post-workout shake. Ladies, it also contains 25 percent of our daily recommended calcium intake, which makes it perfect for building up your bones. Click Coffee Protein only has 1.5 grams of fat per serving, way less than a cafe mocha at the local coffee shop. And the taste really was great, so I can’t complain about that at all.
What I didn’t like are the carbs. A single serving also contains 11 grams of carbs, 6 grams of those being sugar, so I’d personally recommend Click Coffee Protein as a meal replacement, a post-run shake to replenish glycogen stores, or as an afternoon snack instead of a sugary coffeehouse drink. But other than that, this was a great drink – so Click on!
